The Eurotech Helios™ edge controller provides a flexible and programmable hardware platform with enhanced wireless connectivity that enables simplified data acquisition and integration. As an example application, the Helios edge controller collects data from distributed devices, monitors and sensors; aggregates and rationalizes disparate data; and transmits the information to a central processing center.

The Eurotech Helios platform offers four degrees of flexibility.

1. Hardware configuration:

The Eurotech Helios comes in multiple versions based on the Intel® Atom™ Series Z5xx processor, with operating speeds up to 1.6 GHz and industrial temperature ranges from -40° C to + 85°C. Commercial temperature ranges and slower speeds are available for a more economical platform. Memory capacity and video display can also be adjusted to meet specific needs.

2. Operating system:

The Eurotech Helios supports Windows Embedded Standard, Windows CE 6.0, and Wind River Linux 3.0.

3. Programmability:

Eurotech’s Everyware™ Software Framework (ESF), a middleware framework, is available on certain configurations for the most straight-forward OEM application development.

4. Network Connectivity:

The Eurotech Helios supports several cellular services with pre-certified wireless modules that OEMs can install and change as their needs evolve. The Eurotech Helios platform initially supports different cellular, WiFi, Zigbee, and Bluetooth networks with a secure and rugged USB bay area. Also available are pre-certified wireless modules supporting HSDTA, EvDO, 3G, RFID, Bluetooth, and 810.154 Zigbee.
