NEW ! BCIT Analyzer for MIL - STD -1553 Networks
Bus Characterization and Integrity Toolset is All-In-One Network Analyzer for MIL-STD-1553

Benefits:

  • End-to-end testing of MIL-STD-1553 data networks using a single tool.
  • Save time and money by locating problems faster and more precisely.
  • Easy to set up and use WindowsTM software.
  • Perform comparative analysis against historical data.
  • Monitor up to four 1553 bus channels simultaneously.
  • TDR testing of twisted pair MIL-STD-1553 quickly detects opens, shorts and faulty shields.
  • Quickly find cabling faults to within six inches.
  • Portable, rugged unit meets MIL-PRF-28800 Class 2, and is ideal for flightline and field use.
  • Removable hard disk and memory write protection for classified environments.

The BCIT is an all-in-one network analyzer and tester for troubleshooting cables, diagnosing bus health, and monitoring system performance. It allows field engineers and technicians to troubleshoot MIL-STD-1553 buses and embedded avionics systems on the flightline without concern for mechanical or environmental constraints. It contains deployable, commercial test instrumentation, packaged in a single portable container for easy flightline use.

BCIT test functionality applies to a variety of systems, including aircraft, tanks, spacecraft, and ships which rely upon MIL-STD-1553 data bus architectures to link their supporting electronic systems (e.g., avionics) into an integrated data distribution network.

Bus characterization testing provides data bus health monitoring for protocol errors, loading, status exceptions, and terminal response for up to four dual redundant MIL-STD-1553 buses.  This feature helps capture faults that impact bus protocol, such as faulty stubs or terminals.

Bus integrity testing provides electrical analysis of cable networks via a high performance Time Domain Reflectometer (TDR ), which allows technicians to analyze cabling and locate opens, shorts, and faulty shields and couplers  within six inches of the fault for cables up to 1,000 feet.  It can find intermittent faults easily by capturing data only when an anomaly occurs, such as when a cable is "jiggled."

The BCIT’s database driven software can save and recall bus topology, test data, and historical reference data.  A historical database makes it easy to compare data over long periods of time by overlaying cataloged data with active tests.  This makes it useful for both diagnostics and prognostics.

The BCIT System

Controller
The controller consists of a mezzanine card, STX processor board, controller board, and front panel.  It is the central processing unit for the system and is capable of interfacing with multiple probes through a PXI backplane.

MIL-STD-1553 and BCP Probes
The MIL-STD-1553 probe provides the capability to monitor up to four dual-redundant buses simultaneously. It collects and filters data traffic, contains memory, data buffering, and collects bus statistics.  The BCP probe provides TDR functionality for the toolset.

Removable Hard Disk
The BCIT has a removable hard disk card to ensure data and test security.
