Advantech's UTCA-5503 MCH enables the MicroTCA ecosystem to build flexible and scalable solutions with platform economics in mind. From basic carrier management with OpenHPI support to Gigabit Ethernet or PCI Express switching, Advantech's MCH provides an adaptive carrier infrastructure for reliable AdvancedMC interoperability.
The wide range of configurable or customizable options, makes the UTCA-5503 the ideal Carrier Hub for dependable, cost-optimized MicroTCA deployment. Advantech's UTCA-5503 provides full system management capabilities with onboard MCMC, Carrier Manager, Shelf Manager and IPMI1.5 / RMCP+ support. The base fabric connects through dual cascaded L2+ switches with radial 1000BX support, and external connectivity is provided with two front panel RJ45 ports or 1RJ45 + 1 SFP.
Several versions of the MCH are available allowing a true "pay-for-what-you-use" approach. These include (1) MCMC only, (2) MCMC with base fabric switch and (3) Switch-only without MCMC. In addition the PCB1 baseboard allows for additional mezzanines on PCB2 through 4 for clocks, extended management and extended fabrics. No extra firmware releases are required for each mezzanine and a combination of mezzanines and PCB1 infrastructure remains unchanged which further minimizes cost overhead on PCB1. bus, each with FRU EEPROM and supporting configuration and E-keying. This greatly simplifies release management, interoperability testing and reliability. The 10/100 management LAN can be routed to the front panel, backplane or PCB3 and supports the RMCP+ protocol. The console serves as a simple interface for service & debug.
An OpenHPI plugin for maintenance & configuration is supported with the ability to perform HPM.1 upgrades. This common vendor & component-independent tool allows upgrades of MCMC firmware, FPGA content, and all mezzanine board firmware and components. Upgrades can be performed over the IPMB, or Serial /
